Oli d'Eivissa

Who we are

The group administers and coordinates the IGP Oli d'Eivissa certification mark, which identifies the guarantee of extra virgin olive oil produced in Ibiza. The association offers comprehensive advice on the plantations, directed by an agricultural engineer, who is in charge of controlling the pruning, irrigation, fertilisation, phytosanitary treatments and harvesting of the associated members. The producers who have this Oli D'Eivissa quality seal include: Balanzat, Can Andreu, Can Caus, Can Garrovers, Can Domo, Can Maymó, Can Rich, Joan Benet, Miguel Guasch, Oliada, Plá den Ortiz, Salada and Cas Coix.

The olive juices of the PGI "Oli d'Eivissa" have high levels of polyphenols, a group of micronutrients that are directly related to the healthy properties of Extra Virgin Olive Oils. The Protected Geographical Indication of Ibiza established that EVOOs had to have a minimum value of 200mg/kg and some of the juices exceeded 350 mg/kg.

The greatest benefit associated with these compounds is their great antioxidant capacity, protecting our cells from damage caused by free radicals, combating oxidation and delaying cellular ageing. In addition, health studies have shown that the presence of these micronutrients helps to strengthen the immune system; control levels of LDL cholesterol, popularly known as bad cholesterol; protect cardiovascular and bone health; and are being associated with the prevention of some types of cancer.
